Introduction
Project Overview
SmartChamber-3D is an intelligent chamber temperature control system for enclosed 3D printers. It provides chamber heating, hazardous gas exhaust, and automatic print-status detection to make printing more stable and hands-off.
❓ Why Do You Need This System?
⚠️ Chamber temperature too low → Engineering materials cannot be printed properly, and even PETG may warp.
⚠️ Chamber temperature too high → PLA, PETG, and similar materials are more likely to clog the nozzle.
This system automatically detects the printer status and starts or stops operation automatically, without any manual intervention.
When the chamber temperature is too low, PID-based temperature control is activated to continuously maintain the chamber temperature according to the material requirements.
When the chamber temperature is too high, the exhaust fan is automatically enabled to reduce the chamber temperature and prevent nozzle clogging.
When printing engineering materials, the system supports simultaneous heating with low-flow exhaust, effectively suppressing the release of hazardous gases.
Once printing is finished, maximum exhaust is automatically activated to quickly remove hazardous gases and protect your health.
Exhaust is always more effective than filtration!
Applicable Models
- The 3D-printed structure and riser solution are currently for Bambu Lab P2S / P1S.
- Other enclosed models can reuse the control system, but you will need to design your own enclosure or riser structure.
System Components
- Main Control Board: handles temperature sensing, fan control, heater control, and UI interaction.
- Heater plate: provides a controllable heat source inside the chamber.
- Sensors: AHT20 temperature/humidity module and NTC.
- Actuators: exhaust fan, heater fan, LED strip.
- Interaction: 3.5-inch resistive touchscreen + EC11 rotary encoder.
How It Works (Brief)
- The PIR sensor detects whether the printer is active.
- The system performs chamber temperature PID control based on the selected material profile.
- If the temperature is too high, exhaust is enabled to reduce chamber temperature and vent gases.
- After printing is finished, strong exhaust runs to quickly exchange chamber air.

Safety Notes (Important)
- The heating and exhaust modules involve high current and high temperature. Ensure proper insulation and heat dissipation.
- The 24V power wiring must be checked for correct polarity. Wrong wiring can damage the device.
- If exhausting indoors, HEPA filter is recommended.
